About That Crafty One
Hi there! I'm Shannon and I am a MAKER. I absolutely love and get lost in making things. Here are a few areas that I work in...
EMBROIDERY
Starting with simple cross-stitch back in high-school and graduating into hand-cranked chainstitch embroidery, this slow-craft gets me in the zone. I design and stitch handmade patches as well as direct to garment embroidery. This is where I spend most of my maker energy these days.
PAINTING
I took up acrylic painting in college as an art minor (technically a "painting" minor - my professor generously customized a program for me) and it's still something I personally love to do. I immersed myself in oil painting classes over the past couple of years. Regularly I document my days and my travels through watercolor & ink illustration.
PRINTMAKING
The instant gratification when a print comes out super crisp makes all the efforts beforehand worth it. I learned screenprinting at Fleisher Art Memorial in Philly, and quickly ramped myself up to emulsion based printing on my home rig. I built my own exposure unit and love to make small-batch one of a kind prints. My latest endeavor has been learning printmaking techniques via etching and block carvings - also at Fleisher! They're the best.
AND MUCH MUCH MORE...
Seriously. I get into so much trouble at my local Artist & Craftsman.
