Handmade Handcranked Chainstitch Embroidered Philly Chenille Vintage Patch

Oh hey friends! This is my first addition of chainstitched patches to my store. I'm so excited to share my love of this craft with you. In 2021 I began learning the ins and outs of chainstitch, and I'm feeling comfortable enough to make something for purchase on my store. Welcome to the start of something new!

This listing is for a Philly chenille style patch. It measures 8.75" at its longest x 3.5" at its widest. It's made with a combination of acrylic wool blend thread and acrylic chenille thread. This patch is double backed, hiding most evidence of chainstitch,

Chenille otherwise known as Moss is a type of stitch that looks like loops, creating a fuzzy fluffy texture in embroidery. The border is outlined in chainstitch and the fill is done with moss, using traditional chenille thread. The thread is also important in this embroidery as it is created with a reverse twist allowing it to loop and pile. Doing this kind of embroidery is mesmerizing for me!

The embroidery is done with my industrial chain stitch machine, using the hand crank underneath to steer where I go. Each patch is unique.

You could sew this patch to a garment of your choice, or iron it on with an iron-on adhesive. Hand sewing is best as it allows you to remove the patch without damaging the original garment. I like the idea of it on a jean jacket but I've seen patches pinned on straw bags, attached to backpacks, and even on a bandana. The world is yours to decorate <3

*Wash as gently as possible - preferably by hand - and lay flat to dry for long lasting durability of your patch. OR - dry clean. Fuzziness is expected over time*
